Early Career
Our Graduate Experience team is all about sourcing talent that will help fuel NZ’s prosperity. We are committed to attracting top talent for graduate, intern and junior positions at KPMG. Our team believes it is important to nurture candidates in New Zealand and abroad which is why we actively work towards creating an outstanding experience throughout the entire early career recruitment process. We pursue this through challenging ourselves to improve current processes, conducting research and connecting with industry experts. Our team attends and hosts career expos, networking events and manages the advertising that goes into our recruitment process
“I am so proud to be part of the KPMG team, and I can’t believe how much I have grown as a person since starting here. I look forward with optimism for what lies ahead in my professional journey” – Induja Rasanathan, Auckland C&E Grad, 2021.
“Something that I like about working KPMG is that it caters to a wide range of University degrees which isn’t just accounting. There are a wide range of people who are great to work with. There are a lot of cool social aspects to KPMG like the social club and getting paired up with a buddy.” – Kate Driscoll, Auckland Tax Grad, 2021.
“I was lucky enough to intern in the Financial Services Audit team at KPMG. It was an awesome experience and helped me gain a much better understanding of what life is like in the corporate world. I was able to build strong relationships with different people at the firm, opening up opportunities such as my recent move into the Corporate Finance team.” – Jordan Stevenson, Auckland Deals Advisory Grad 2021.
“The coolest thing about my job is the opportunity to take your career path in a direction that interests you. Having exposure to many different industries and clients helps to figure out what excites you and where you can succeed. Support networks at KPMG will assist you in developing your skills, experience, and professional qualifications to get you where you want to be. Working at KPMG is investing in your future, which is a very rewarding part of the job.” – Dominic Taylor, Christchurch Risk Consulting Grad, 2021.
“The coolest thing about being an Auditor at KPMG is finding deficiencies in controls and misstatements. I like this because it gives me a purpose to work up to my full potential. The second-best thing is that I get to travel a lot and work at different workplaces throughout the year. It makes work more interesting and enjoyable for me.” – Tarunjot Singh, Hamilton Audit Grad, 2021.
Graduates
Our Graduates typically start at the end of February/early March each year in a permanent full-time position across all divisions of the firm. Join our graduate program and give yourself the best start to your career. You will work with a variety of teams within the business, and be supported by a fantastic network of managers, buddies, mentors and learning facilitators. We provide you with the flexibility to work on engagements and we will work closely with you throughout your career to tailor an experience aligned with your qualifications, skills, and development opportunities.
Grad Camp
Our graduates start their journey at KPMG attending Grad Camp, where they learn about KPMG’s story and for KPMG to learn about theirs. Over the action-packed 3 days, our graduates are immersed in our values, vision and culture – guided by KPMG’s senior leaders and partners. Staying on a marae in Northland offers our graduates a one of a kind experience, welcomed into the KPMG whānau through our Māori heritage. Grad Camp gives everyone the opportunity to meet their colleagues and develop lifelong connections which extend past the office walls.
Intern
This is a 12-week Summer Internship from November to February each year for students in their penultimate year of University across all divisions of the firm. As an Intern you will be involved in completing a corporate citizenship-based project to help our mission of fueling New Zealand’s Prosperity. By the end of your 12 weeks with us you will have made connections for life, been exposed to a wide range of clients, and worked on interesting engagements.
Junior Advisor
Our Junior Advisors join KPMG on a part-time permanent basis in our DDX Private Enterprise team starting early April each year. This is a fantastic opportunity to work whilst you complete your accounting degree, and your hours will be tailored around your University timetable. You will be closely supported by a buddy and your wider team. This is a hands-on experience learning accounting in the real world and an opportunity to advance your career whilst still studying.
